Ryan Kriger is an author, lawyer, teacher and sometime comedian living in Montpelier, Vermont with his dog, Maggie.  He is currently working on publishing his first novel and a non-fiction book on making friends and finding community.

Ryan has a weird variety interests:

  • Privacy and Data Security: Ryan teaches and speaks about privacy and data security around the country, is on the Vermont Governor's Cybersecurity Advisory Team, and works on privacy issues for the State of Vermont, including recent legislation that may introduce transparency into the data broker industry.
  • Consumer Protection and Antitrust: Ryan makes his living as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Vermont in the Public Protection Division.
  • Teaching: Ryan teaches Consumer Law & Policy, Privacy Law & Policy, Protect Your Privacy, and Introduction to Contemporary Public Affairs at the University of Vermont.
  • Friendship: Ryan has given talks all over Vermont on how to make friends as an adult.
  • Writing: Ryan has written one science-fiction and two middle-grade novels which he is currently working on publishing, as well as a book on making friends as an adult.
  • Comedy: Ryan has performed stand-up comedy around New York and New England. He generally avoids competitions but did make the semi-finals for Funniest Comic in New England. He also owned Vermont's first comedy club, Levity in Burlington, which lasted a full year and a half!
  • Woodworking: Ryan lives in Vermont, where you either have to hike, ski, or woodwork. He prefers the latter.
  • Maggie: Maggie is not only the best dog in the history of the world, she is also a viral sensation. (Her most recent appearance is in this Ethiopian news show.)

Ryan has some other interests, but those are the top ones, for now.
